Recipe Time- Crispy Pork Bakes

The other evening me and my partner were planning how we would use the rest of the ingredients we had left over from a weeks worth of dinners. I would read the names of different food items in the cupboard and he did the same from the fridge.

We found:

  • Jus-Rol Light Puff Pastry Sheet
  • ASDA Extra Special Pork Fillet Medallions
  • ASDA Edam Cheese Slices
  • A loose onion
  • Seasonings (Salt, Pepper, Lemon Juice and Paprika)

Fry the pork medallions for 3-5 minutes or until they are just turning golden. Season with salt, pepper, paprika and lemon juice. Leave to cool on some clean kitchen roll lined bowls. Press dry the medallions using kitchen roll.

Chop 1/4 of an onion finely.

Roll out the pastry sheet and divide into six squares. Place edam cheese on top of square of pastry and then put a pork medallion in the centre. Sprinkle onion on the pork and cover with another slice of edam cheese. Finally pull the corners of the pastry together and stick them together. Then glaze the top with egg.

Put in the oven for 20-25 mins or until crispy.

We served the pork bakes on a salad with some potatoes and sweet chilli sauce.

NEWSFLASH- Finding The Perfect Lipgloss!

I know that this is two beauty posts in a row and I’m not sure how you feel about that, please comment and tell me if it okay or if you want more variety.Thank you.

Golly gosh I recently did a Feelunique order in which I received a bag of freebies. One of the freebies was a lipgloss and being me and set in my ways of matte matte matte, i didn’t even think about swatching lipgloss.

You may be wondering why I wouldn’t swatch a lipgloss and well it was because I have bought three lipsticks that were of course matte and the idea never crossed my mind to stop swatching and trying them.

A few days later I saw that the lipgloss was still in the bag, and swatched it quickly while an episode of The Simpsons was on. Now nothing can distract me from the The Simpsons I’ve watched it all my life why would I change that? But this lipgloss had the perfect formula. It was an opaque colour that wasn’t sticky and felt more like a glossy liquid lipstick. it faded nicely as the evening progressed.

Now you are still waiting for the name of this lipgloss? Its the Fleur De Force Lipgloss 9.5ml – Exclusive in Starlight I instantly ordered two other shades Starry Night and Seeing Stars and both of these arrived today and have the same great formula. And both Starry Night and Seeing Stars are under £2 on Feelunique right now! which is an amazing price for this formula.

Whoops- Feelunique Haul!!

So after a long awaited pay day I decided to dabble into the world of online shopping. I clicked on Feelunique and as we all know online shopping is one of the easiest ways to add a bit of joy to a day.

On the front page they had an offer. Score! So I read through the page to see how much I had to spend to get a bag of freebies and started a slow perusal of the site.

First I went to the skincare section as I recently ran out of my favourite facial oil Emu Oil Well Rosehip Emu Oil 50ml. I love this for a deep oil cleanse or to hydrate the skin. It is a heavy oil that sinks into the skin quite slowly but its worth it for the results.

The other skin care item I picked up is the Sukin Rose Hip Oil 25ml I picked this up so I could use this when I don’t have the time to wait for the Rosehip Emu Oil to sink into my skin. I’ve only used it once but it is a light oil that is more comfortable on the skin in that it’s not as sticky and sinks in much quicker.

I then remembered that I had run out of my favourite quick spray brush cleaner the bareMinerals® Quick Change Brush Cleaner 110ml this is the fastest drying brush cleaning spray. I am able to use a brush a second after using it. Which is brilliant when using bright eye  colours on your favourite blending brush.

After this I went to the makeup section and went through the different sections. I picked up a couple *cough* things including: NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer 6ml Chantilly favourite concealer, NYX Professional Makeup Matte Lipstick 4.5g 22 Strawbrry Daiquiri stunning and really pigmented! Most beautiful colour perfect for everyday and NYX Professional Makeup Sweet Cheeks Blush Palette and NYX Professional Makeup Strobe of Genius Illuminating Palette 20g are both beautiful palettes, I have used each palette once but after a heavy swatching session I knew I would be buying these for my best friends birthday! Last year, I bought her first birthday present in April in full awareness that I wouldn’t be able to gift it to her for another 8 months.

I also picked up the new Max Factor Colour Elixir Velvet Matte Lipstick 4g 05 Nude  Max Factor brought out a new line of lipsticks and I am in love the formula for these are matte but not drying at all I wore this lipstick and it lasted through a work shift and my lipsticks never last unless I use a matte liquid lipstick formula. If you are looking for a new matte lipstick formula I suggest you try these!

I repurchased Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray which is my favourite and also picked up the Maybelline New York SuperStay24 Make Up Locking Spray 75ml I’ve tried it twice and I’m not the biggest fan so far but I’ve only tried it twice the first time I didn’t shake it and it ruined my makeup by spraying white specks all over my face and I couldn’t buff them away. The second time I did shake the bottle but forgot to check how my make up lasted through the day.

The last two products I picked up are the NYX Professional Makeup Baked Blush 6.5g 04 Solstice and the NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil 2.4g Bettina. The blush is pretty as a topper but would probably work better on a darker skin tone I just tap off the excess off my brush and apply minimal product. The Bettina Lip Pencil confused me it says in the name matte but it has a weird sheen a nearly metallic sheen which confused me. I still wear it but I am slightly disappointed that I wasn’t getting a matte formula.

If you want a more indepth review on anything leave it in the comments and I will post asap a full review.

Have a great day. X

P.S. Sorry about the terrible photos. I didn’t have time to present them properly as I had to leave for work.

My Two Little Fish

In the picture above you can see my beautiful fish tank. The larger fish with the wider tail is named Flora and the smaller longer fish is named Puppy.

My first fish Puppy came from a fireworks night at the local racecourse. I knew that day we would be coming home with a fish and that we would be winning it from one of these booths. We decided to get our first fish this way as a little rescue from the cramped tanks the fairground fish are forced into. The game was to hit three large cards with darts. I asked my SO to play the game for me as I really suck at these types of games. It only took two goes and we were holding our fish. I knew his name straightaway- Puppy. We bought a fish bowl and food from the stall and left. We got a bigger tank as soon as we could and settled him into that tank after a week of treating the water.
Puppy is the cheekiest little fish who swims into the bubbly water from the filter and is pushed back. He chases Flora around and knows when it’s dinner time.

The larger fish came from Pets at Home her name is Flora and she is such a flirt. The day we got her the car decided to break down on a roundabout so unluckily she was in her bag way longer than we thought.
Too much info but Flora could possibly be the poopiest fish in the world. We had to change the fish food as Flora would be constipated everyday. They both have a basic menu, this is probably sad for Puppy as he used to get one flake and a pinch of the food that looks like fine crumbs.
Having fish is such a relaxing pastime. The noise of the filter is very relaxing and makes sleeping a lot easier as does the sound of the water moving.
Blog 3 Picture 1Having a good quality filter means that cleaning the tank is easier. We use a weekly cleaner solution and swap out half the water once a month.
One of the worst parts of keeping fish is that it’s near impossible to find christmas decorations for the tank. In January I finally found a Christmas tree which I’m keeping for next Christmas.

First Impression – Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Eyeshadow Palette.

As I opened the front door and looked down on the floor, I saw a Royal Mail card and knew that my palette would be with me soon. I ran up the stairs to my room and changed my alarm so that I could get down to the collecting office before work the next morning.

Naturally, I woke up, dressed and grabbed my purse and keys. Ten minutes later I had the parcel and was so excited to get home, I nearly ran. I dropped the parcel at home and went to work and couldn’t wait for my shift to end.

After work I wiped my eye make up for the day off, touched up my base and only then opened the parcel.

And this is my first impressions on this stunning palette.

The first colour I instantly swatched was Red Ochre, the second Primavera both colours were extremely pigmented. Red Ochre was soft but Primavera was like butter, I thought that maybe it was a cream.

I used Golden Ochre in my crease and it took hardly any blending for it to look perfect. I then used Burnt Orange to deepen the outer crease and the V. The two colours blended with minimal effort. I applied Love Letter to the outer V and under the lash line. I then applied Buon Fresco to my inner and outer part of the lid and blended Primavera on the centre of the lid.

This took less than five minutes, the colours all blended well and the kick back and fall out was minimal. I have to say this palette has replaced my Lorac Pro 3 as my favourite eyeshadow palette.

The brush included is of good quality and is the first palette when my first move wasn’t to bin the applicator.

It is definitely worth the £41 and is truly the most beautiful flawless palette.
